A/Prof Arish Naresh is eager to get started in his new role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Kilmore District Health.
“I look forward to working with the community and the KDH team to ensure we deliver evidence based contemporary health services that meet the needs of the diverse consumers in a pandemic world” he said.
Arish has more than 15 years’ experience in the healthcare sector, having worked in New Zealand, South Australia and most recently as CEO of Omeo District Health.
Arish was born in Fiji where he commenced his healthcare journey, completing a Diploma in Dental Therapy from the Fiji School of Medicine followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Services Management and Master of Health Science in New Zealand and holds a Honorary Doctorate in Leadership.
In addition to Arish’s most recent role as CEO, he has held key leadership positions including the Director of Allied Health in Gisborne, NZ; Executive Director of Allied Health, Scientific and Technical in Wellington, NZ; and Program Director for Specialty Medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia. Arish also lectures and assesses master’s level thesis for a university based in Indonesia on a voluntarily basis.
Arish has served as Chairperson of the NZ Dental and Oral Health Therapists Association and as a Board Member of UNICEF New Zealand. He is also the Founder of OWDSOCKS (Opportunities without Discrimination), a social movement dedicated to promoting inclusion and diversity in society. In 2020, Arish was awarded the Order of New Zealand for his services to community and dentistry.
Arish added “My fiancé and I look forward to moving to Kilmore and serving the people of the region. I come from a country town in Fiji and Kilmore feels like the right fit for personal and professional ambitions.”
Arish will commence as CEO on Monday 30 May 2022, taking over from Jen Gilham who has shown great leadership and guidance for the Health Service as acting CEO since October 2021.
