International Day of People with Disability

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year.

It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

By listening to the experiences of people with disability, and recognising their unique talents, skills and interests, we can challenge our own perceptions about disability and make positive changes in our workplace and community.

Let’s all be a part of the action this December, and all year round, to help make Australia more inclusive for people with disability.

At KDH we are committed to making our workplace and services accessible, inclusive and equitable for all our staff, volunteers, consumers, residents and community. One aspect of this is reviewing our employment and recruitment policies and procedures. This includes having a clear statement recognizing diversity , encouraging applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences, and recognising the enormous contributions they make within the workplace. Living with a disability does not exclude us from whatever they want to do. important for each of us to consider and challenge the perceptions we have about people with a disability.
