Jo-Anne Mazzeo

Deputy Chair

Ms Mazzeo was appointed to Kilmore District Health Board of Directors in 2020 and is also a member of the Clinical Governance subcommittee and the Governance and Remuneration subcommittee.

Ms Mazzeo is an Australian Legal Practitioner who works across the health, education and disability sectors to conduct investigations, provide legal advice and deliver training and methods of alternative dispute resolution.

Ms Mazzeo has previously worked as in-house Counsel for the Mental Health Review Board of Victoria and the Disability Services Commissioner of Victoria, has held various positions on State Government Boards and Tribunals, is currently a Legal Member of the Mental Health Tribunal of Victoria and is Deputy Chair of the Independent Office for School Dispute Resolution (within the Department of Education).

Ms Mazzeo is also the Convenor of the Medical Law Program within the Monash University Medical Degree, is a Senior Lecturer at both Monash and LaTrobe Universities, where she teaches health law related content, and is a Senior Legal Advisor for the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine.

Ms Mazzeo is admitted to practice in both the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria. In her free time Jo-Anne enjoys quality family time with her husband and three children.

Mrs Leach was appointed to Kilmore District Health Board of Directors in 2019 and was appointed to Chairperson in July 2022 and is also a member of the Governance and Remuneration subcommittee.

Mrs Leach has over 25 years’ experience as a CEO in health-related organisations including holding the position of Company Secretary of Whitehorse Community Health and the Australian Association of Practice Management. 

Mrs Leach was the inaugural Chairman for the Eastern Melbourne Clinical Placement Network and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mrs Leach is passionate about providing first class health services in the local community. She looks forward to the opportunity to use her experience to contribute to the Kilmore community through her participation on the Board of Kilmore District Health.

Lindsay Falvey

Professor Falvey resides in Mitchell Shire and was appointed to Kilmore District Health Board of Directors in 2021 and is also a member of the Finance and Audit subcommittee.

Professor Falvey has served on corporate and multinational organisation boards, as Dean at the University of Melbourne and in senior advisory roles across tens of countries, and is currently an Australian Commissioner for International Agricultural Research, and Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Melbourne.

Professor Falvey's PhD, higher Doctorate and Honorary Doctorate related to improved wellbeing of marginalised peoples through the integration of social and technical parameters, predominantly through the biological sciences.  He is a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences, a recipient of the Centenary Medal of Australia, and a Life Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge. His interests are in enhancing local services, good governance, research, writing and an integrated understanding of wellbeing.

Wendy Kelly

Mrs Kelly was appointed to Kilmore District Health Board of Directors in 2017 and is also a member of the Clinical Governance subcommittee and Community Advisory subcommittee.

Mrs Kelly has over 29 years’ experience working in the health sector with a focus on disability awareness and the social inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of community life. Mrs Kelly’s experience includes positions at NEXUS Primary Health, Community Care Coordinator at Independence Australia (Formally known as ParaQuad Victoria) and D.A.S.S.I (Disability Attendant Care Support Services Inc.

Mrs Kelly received a DHS Victoria Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

Mrs Kelly enjoys the opportunity to be part of Kilmore District Health's Board of Directors and working with a passionate group of people who share the same goal.

Mr Barney Ling was appointed to Kilmore District Health Board of Directors in 2021 and is also a member of the Audit and Finance subcommittee.

Mr Ling is a senior Information Technology Executive with experience across a range of industries including Pharmaceuticals, Finance, Accounting, Law and his own business.

Barney holds many industry certifications including as a Certified information Security Professional (CISSP) and an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business. 

Barney lives locally, in the Mitchell Shire area, with his wife and three children.

Barbara Schade

Ms Schade was appointed to Kilmore District Health Board of Directors in 2020 and is also a member of the Community Advisory subcommittee.

Ms Schade is a communication, policy and dispute resolution expert and admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria. She currently works in policy and communications in the technology industry and has a background in alternative dispute resolution, with a strong commitment to putting the customer experience at the centre of service delivery. She has a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as a qualification in horticulture and experience working as a freelance journalist. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Williamson Community Leadership program 2019.  

Ms Schade is Chair of the Board of the Council of Single Mothers and their Children and strongly committed to social equity and inclusion. She has worked with different groups in the community who are vulnerable to disadvantage and is very interested in how local health services engage with their clients and the community. She is a keen Carlton supporter and proud mother of three boys.

Dr Katharine See is a Respiratory physician with extensive clinical leadership and governance experience. She is currently the Chief Health Outcomes Officer and Head of Respiratory Medicine at Northern Health.

 

Dr See holds an Executive MBA from Melbourne Business School and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Dr See's main interests are value-based healthcare and digital health with a focus on how we can better utilize existing resources to deliver the outcomes that matter most to patients and the community.

Graham Thomson

Mr Thomson, a resident of the Kilmore area since 1980, was appointed to Kilmore District Health Board of Directors in 2019 and is also a member of the Clinical Governance and Community Advisory subcommittees.

 

Prior to joining the Board, Mr Thomson was an independent member and Chair of the Board’s Audit and Enterprise Risk Subcommittee.

Mr Thomson is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has extensive board and senior management experience in finance and banking, specialising in international corporate finance and investment banking, credit and enterprise risk, project management and audit, which he undertook in Australia, Middle East, Latin America, and the UK. He has also held external board positions and is a member of the Kilmore Public Cemetery Trust.

Mr Thomson was educated in the UK obtaining an Honours Degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Southampton.

Mr Thomson’s interests are his family. With his wife Elizabeth he is a Support Crew Member of The Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria. He is a member of the Melbourne Cricket Club, Carlton FC, Melbourne Rebels RFC and South Australian Cricket Association. He also operates a beef cattle property.
